the MAN

A midwestern-born, Colorado-based Folk-Rock poet and Americana songsmith with a captivating voice, cinematic songs, and a dynamic stage presence, Erik Lunde"pens lyrics that are haunting and memorable poetry married with one of the widest arrays of melodies this area knows". Born and raised in the tiny town of Mapleton, Wisconsin, Lunde left home 2 weeks after his high school graduation and wandered all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe, hopping from place to place like a character in a Jack Kerouac novel, searching for stories and songs and experiences, and chalking up about 40 different addresses across North America. A songwriter and musician whose songs and sound bears the geography, culture, and history of his midwestern Norwegian-Hippie-Lutheran origins, Lunde is influenced by a wide variety of genres including gospel hymns, bluegrass, traditional country, rock & roll, and artists like Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon, The Beatles, and David Bowie. Lunde’s sound is his own genre-bending mashup that reflects this diverse musical stew.

The founder and frontman of the Lunde Station band, a well-known staple on the Northern Colorado music scene from 2012 -2017, Lunde has re-emerged as a solo singer-songwriter, performing under his own name and release a new album of original Folk-Rock & Americana songs entitled Water From The Stone on Friday, January 28th, 2022. The record quickly gained the attention of Colorado’s public and community radio stations and became the Top 5 record on Colorado’s top community stations in February of 2022. He will be touring the new album in Colorado and across the Midwest in the late summer of 2022.

Lunde’s upcoming album, Water From The Stone, is itself a long time overdue as it took six years and six studios to reach completion. As a passionate and compelling performer that connects with his audience, Lunde set out to translate that infectious energy and rock and roll spirit of his live performance into a record. His collection of “post-modern folk-rock spirituals” draws upon deeply reflective songwriting and Americana soundscapes to create a sound that is truly his own. Northern Colorado’s SCENE Magazine has described Lunde’s songwriting as “lyrics that are haunting and memorable poetry, [...] skipping from dark and minor chord tones that are reminiscent of lonesome backroads and bleak, understated realism.” After hearing the title track “Water From The Stone” SCENE Magazine remarked, “If they could get ten more like “Water From Stone,” they would have an incredible album.” That album is now streaming worldwide on your favorite platforms.

Water From The Stone is Lunde at his most epic. What begins with the familiar folk style of previous work soon explodes with southern rock licks and heavy percussion. This is Lunde at his best.”

– Grateful Web

“Comprised of originality, inspiration and deep Americana roots, Lunde never fails to get the crowd moving.”

– Scene Magazine

“It's artful and soothing with its own unique sound; you would think an artist like this would flourish in this part of Colorado and subsequently crank out albums, but maybe that's because Lunde doesn't want a drop in quality.”
