Colorado Americana artists Erik Lunde & Sweet Virginia have teamed up with acclaimed artist-producer A.J. Fullerton to release “Gospel, Hymns & Spirituals,” a heartfelt, old-time Carter Family–style album celebrating some of the most beloved gospel songs in the American songbook.
Drawing inspiration from Norman Blake, Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, Ralph Stanley, Mahalia Jackson, and Washington Phillips, the album was recorded live in just 24 hours inside a 130-year-old log cabin along the South Platte River. The rustic setting — complete with the soft patter of summer rain on the roof — created the perfect atmosphere for capturing the raw, authentic spirit of this timeless music.
Rooted in the duo’s Southern Baptist upbringing, the eight-track collection weaves together folk, country, bluegrass, and African-American spiritual traditions into a moving celebration of America’s gospel heritage.
“Gospel, Hymns & Spirituals” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
